Simone Neumann, Student Assistant

Simone Neumann joined elbarlament in October 2022, first as a student assistant and, upon completing her BA in Islamic studies, she changed position to become a Project Officer for the project „Democracy Needs Civic Education – A Civic Education Platform for Iraq“.

Simone has more than 25 years of experience in offering training in language and intercultural matters as well as translation services for companies. She has worked and lived in France, Ireland and India and was granted an Arabic language scholarship at Doha Institute for Graduate Studies in 2022. Since 2015, Simone has been actively supporting refugees from Iraq.

Her passion is building bridges through communication – by raising awareness about its intricacies and potential for peace-building. It does not matter why communication may have become heavy or filled with friction and misunderstandings. What does matter, as a way out, is the intention to connect and truly listen. For this, Simone has been continuously learning about Nonviolent Communication and its younger counterpart, Heartful Communication, for the past five years, and she is currently passing on her insights and learnings on a volunteer basis.

Simone speaks German and English fluently, solid French and reasonable modern standard Arabic.
