Elbarlament (“parliament” in Arabic) is a peacebuilding and democracy support organisation, with a special focus on empowering women and youth.
We implement democracy support and peacebuilding projects in three thematic fields: Inclusive political participation; Women, Peace and Security (WPS); Gender-Climate-Security-Nexus.
We develop and implement tailor-made approaches for promoting democratic reform, civic and cultural education and women’s participation.
elbarlament was established in 2013 by a team of multidisciplinary democracy specialists. We are an independent and impartial organisation headquartered in Berlin.

Technical support to Team Europe Democracy (TED) Initiative
We provide expertise to Team Europe Democracy (TED) Network, strengthening European coordination and expertise in democracy support worldwide by facilitating research, dialogue, and knowledge exchange.
WYDE Civic Engagement
The overall objective of the WYDE project is to fund and implement national and transnational projects in support of youth civic engagement and participation in the decision-making processes across the Sub-Saharan Countries.
Archiving the Yezidi culture
The project is commission by Hawar.help, a human rights organisation. It's aim is to archive the Yezidi culture.
Archiving the Yezidi culture - Iraq and Syria
The project is commissioned by Hawar.help, to document, preserve, and digitize Yazidi family, local, and cultural heritage in Iraq and Syria, strengthening the Yazidi Community Archive and ensuring Yazidi voices, histories, and living traditions are represented beyond the genocide narrative.

Did you know?
“elbarlament” means “parliament” in Arabic. In our founding year (2013) we started out with a parliamentary support programme in Egypt, which inspired us to call our new organisation “elbarlament”.
