Study on role of digital technology in the civic participation of young people and women in municipal governance (Tunisia)
GIZ and its partners in the “Initiative for Municipal Development (IDM)” project in Tunisia – the Ministry of Local Affairs (MAL), the National Federation of Tunisian Municipalities (FNCT), the Training and Support Center for Decentralization (CFAD), the Caisse des Loans et de Soutiens des Collectivités Locales (CPSCL) as well as the Electronic Administration Unit (UAE) – have decided to launch a call for tenders for the realization a study on the role of digital technology in promoting the place of women and young people in the management of local affairs.
Initiated in 2015, the GIZ project “Initiative for Municipal Development (IDM)” project aimed to (i) improve the provision of administrative services through the creation of citizen Spaces, (ii) strengthen the civic participation of young people and women, and (iii) develop digital municipalities.
While the project already works with more than 60 Tunisian municipalities, mainly in the interior areas of the country, this study was carried out in 10 municipalities representing a mix of mid-sized towns, located in the interior regions of the country (Jendouba , Beja) but also the coast (Gabès, Médenine), towns on the outskirts of metropolises (Sidi Hassine, Agareb, Jammel) but also in rural areas (Ragueb, Jebeniana, Soliman).
