Leadership programme graduation

The almost 30 women participating in our modular leadership programme met for the first time in Erbil last week at a moving graduation ceremony. This, after having seen each other only on the screen for the past year due to the pandemic.

Our leadership programme empowered these women, who came from politics as well as civil society, to effectively participate in conflict resolution, reconciliation work and decision-making. More specifically, participants were trained to take on management tasks at all government and social levels as well as in organisations.

On top of celebrating the successful end of the programme, the graduation ceremony additionally included a training on political campaigning. We wish these women all the best and are looking forward to seeing their future endeavors.

Elbarlament has been conducting leadership programmes for women in Lebanon in Iraq for the past four years. This particular programme took place within the framework of the 2-year-long Women Talking Peace project, funded by the GIZ on behalf of the government of the federal republic of Germany.
