Alexander Kückes, Project Officer
Alexander Kückes joined elbarlament in April 2023.
A human geographer with a regional focus on the MENA region, Alexander specialised in transdisciplinary topics such as water management and human development. During his bachelor’s, he spent one year with a DAAD scholarship at the Sultan Qaboos University in Muscat, Oman. There he translated a novel from Arabic into German and researched traditional irrigation systems on the Arabian Peninsula.
He completed his MA in Human Geography/Global Studies with a focus on sustainability, politics and economics in the Arab world at the University of Tübingen. His master’s thesis examined an initiative launched by the Moroccan government to promote human development.
Alexander worked on reforestation and climate-smart agriculture in an oasis context in southern Morocco before completing a postgraduate course in international development cooperation at Humboldt University in Berlin. His previous position was at the German Embassy in Tunis.
Alexander speaks German, English, French and Arabic.
