Within the framework of the project \u201c<\/span>Clean Tigris- Dialogue Programme for Sustainable Peace in Mesopotamia<\/span><\/a>\u201d elbarlament published a book on sustainable solutions for issues such as climate change, water pollution and conflict due to water scarcity in the Land Between Two Rivers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In the fourth chapter of the book, Iraqi-German archaeologist\u00a0Lanah Haddad writes about the role of water management throughout mythology and history. From the creation of the rivers by the ancient gods to\u00a0regulation and policymaking\u00a0on water control reflected in ancient codes and laws, this chapter\u00a0shows how important the rivers were in ancient Mesopotamia and how they continue to have an indispensable role in the modern state of Iraq.\u00a0In her words, ‘looking into ancient resources provides us with fruitful inspiration for the coming generation to create a better future’.<\/span><\/p>\n
