Rural Women Facing Climate Change: A Field Study on the Impact of Environmental Shifts on Work and Economic Empowerment in Iraq

This research paper addresses the growing global concern regarding the dimensions of climate change and its impacts on vulnerable groups—specifically rural women, who stand on the front lines of these challenges. Rural women in Iraq and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region bear the heaviest burden of climate change repercussions, including water scarcity, the degradation of agricultural land, and declining agricultural productivity. Despite this, their practical and knowledge-based contributions to adapting to these challenges are frequently marginalized or overlooked in policy-making.
